StarLite, I love Granny Smiths for cooking, we have always had a tree in our garden.
They cook up beautifully and if stewing need very little water, they come up nice and fluffy.
and a definite must with pork. :)

That sounds great Hawka. From the amount of ingredients I should
think that would make quite a few servings and would be ideal to include
at a BBQ party.

As for roast pork I never cover as we like to have a crisp crackling

Drac, that is exactly how I do my pot roast, in the oven. As you
say, it can be done in the crockpot but doesn;t have that extra
oomph. :)
I usually add red wine, (not necessary I know, but does add to
the flavour) :D
