Packing Chaos

I bet Val can relate to this. My house is in absolute chaos - Drac calls it a disaster - I call it progress ha ha. https://www.facebook.com/rozanne.bingle/videos/10161662338785611/ I had a visit from the Removals Boss yesterday and what a good job that I decided to start packing early. He is coming ...

Re: Paradise Lost!

I have moved further down the Peninsula nearer the sea and just around the corner from my son and his family, RB! The move was chaotic but went well and by the following lunchtime, all was packed away and boxes removed! My family were brilliant. I am now in a retirement village in a first floor uni...

Re: Paradise Lost!

"RaytheBear RB, I have to ask: How is the Internet connection there? Is it the same or better? I am sure that is the least of your concern but I am just curious. Again, best of luck and congrats on your new home, may it be the last move, but again as you said earlier, "Nothing is Ever permanent"......

Re: Paradise Lost!

The train always makes me laugh - it is only two carriages long, as you can see in the video. I went to the small local convenience store yesterday morning, and do you know what, every single customer in there spoke to me, even though they didnt know me. It's such a very friendly village - it really...

Re: Paradise Lost!

I am in fact celebrating tonight with a glass of red. Legal paperwork is 99% done. I think I can safely say the house is now mine. Whoop whoop, I am one very happy bunny

Re: Paradise Lost!

Just to give you a little taster of what my new surroundings look like, here is a little video of my area, but in fact the scenery is magnificent throughout the whole Scottish Highlands.

Re: Paradise Lost!

LK, it will be a piece of cake compared to moving from Kenya lol!

Like Drac pointed out to me, this new house reminds us so much of my lovely house in Kenya, albeit in a much safer area!

Re: Paradise Lost!

LK, this is just a holiday rental I have for two months just to go house hunting. I have to be out of my Orkney cottage by 28th May, and hopefully in my new house on 3rd June - I am still on holiday in the Scottish holidays until the end of the month - when I get home, I have just 8 weeks to pack up...

Paradise Lost!

Hi fellow Manorites - I am really sorry I have been AWOL from here for so long but I have had lots of big decisions to make in my life just recently. As you all know, I moved to Sanday in Orkney exactly 7 years ago and to me, at that time, it was Paradise on earth. But times change, don't they, and ...

Re: Christmas traditions

Jk, what a great idea. And yes, although I am set back from the road, my Christmas lights can still be seen very clearly. I have the conservatory, the kitchen and the lounge all decked out with hundreds and hundred of lights - it takes me about half an hour to switch them off before bed! - and yes, ...

Re: Christmas traditions

I think my conservatory has looked better other years, when I have had help to put them up, but I am still pleased with my effort. I also have a small video, but I dont think you can post videos here?

Re: Happy Birthday, Rosaboobie!!

Yes, JK - I do know that your relationship with your Mom was very very different to my circumstances, although I never ever let my Mum know how I really felt about her. She went to her grave fully believing that I was still her ever-loving Daughter. I have to make another call to the Funeral Directo...

Re: Happy Birthday, Rosaboobie!!

Thank you, Stella - I am having a Birthday weekend, so I am still celebrating today. Music always cheers me up, so Alexa has been playing very loud music for me all day long - Queen, Elton John and 90s Classic Club Anthems - what a good job I dont have any neighbours close to me.
