Re: What modem to buy
mbday...I also have TWC. I'm still using their modem/router and wifi since I still have the intro deal. I was told by the install tech, that if you opt to purchase your own modem, you can still use the TWC one for your phone only. As long as you are using their phone service, they need to provide yo...

Re: Fright recommendations?
It was a good experience, Drac. I was just about ready to give up and then Jason from Encore posted at Gameboomers and that encouraged me to continue trying. As it stands it was a corrupt .dll file all along. A lesson learned...don't assume that the problems everyone else is having extend to your co...

Re: any ideas on what to try?
I had an issue with connecting my XP machine to the internet. Worked fine months ago with a wireless connection. Time Warner since then had replaced my modem router and changed the security protocol. Well...could no longer get on wirelessly and TWC didn't advise going back to the old protocol. So I ...

Re: Fright recommendations?
Well...It seems that all my woes with the game Alter Ego, extended to Fright. I went back into the event viewer to July to see if an error recorded as to why I could not play the game on my ASUS laptop. Indeed it was the same atioglxx.dll file! So, the game uses OpenGL graphics. The solution to comp...

Re: What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now, Continued
I finished "Fright" this weekend. It was okay, but the gameplay on my HP XP laptop wasn't the best.
Went to one I downloaded a while ago: Timeless: The Lost Castle. No voice acting, but the puzzles were really unique and enjoyable.

Re: Fright recommendations?
Well...This weekend I was able to play "Fright" on my HP laptop running XP. The help from Big Fish trying to fix the Access Violation error I was getting on my Asus running Windows 7 consisted only of the solutions they offer on the website: Uninstalling and reinstalling while disabling any antiviru...

Re: Fright recommendations?
Unfortunately, I can't get Fright to launch on my Windows 7 machine. I get an "access violation" error so there is a conflict somewhere. I am waiting for a response from Big Fish support on what I can try besides running as administrator and compatibility mode. In the meantime, I did actually downlo...

Re: What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now, Continued
I am so behind even in my casual games. I just finished Nightmare Adventures: The Turning Thorn. It had an odd plot and dreary graphics but outstanding puzzles and now HO's. I enjoyed it despite the dreariness. I'm now playing Chimeras: Tune of Revenge by Elephant games. Much more colorful and visua...

It absolutely is, Drac! I love not having the responsibility of running an organization anymore. Folks thought I'd struggle. Are you kidding me? I love being "irresponsible!"

Re: My List of Casual Games That I am Holding Out for a Sale
Thank you, Lady K! I'm absolutely loving retirement thus far. I'm totally settled in my new home and my Mom (who is 87) moved in with me last week, so we're feeling a bit like the Golden Girls. :) I'm definitely enjoying playing games. I started oil painting again, but that's coming a bit harder. It...

I just finished Lake House Children of Silence purchased centuries ago! What a depressing game. Even the graphics were "washed out." For a CE it just wasn't that special. I just started Unfinished Tales Illicit Love. Much better graphics. More colorful. This is another game purchased centuries ago!

Re: My List of Casual Games That I am Holding Out for a Sale
I bought 10 games during this sale...and I have so many installed that I haven't even played yet. Now that I'm retired I have more time to play. Easing back into full adventures as well. I always read the reviews on the games. I like games with good puzzles!
