This game has six original and wonderful stories, each one full of surprises. You play the role of Sam and, with the help of your hilarious sidekick Max, are freelancing for the police and are sent to investigate 6 funny stories. In Culture Shock, the evil children stars, the Soda Poppers, are invading Sam & Max’s neighbourhood with the hilarious idea of converting everyone to the Eye-Bo. It’s up to Sam & Max to see what’s behind this strange organization.
In the next episode, Situation Comedy, the well known and more than perfect talk show host Myra Stump, is taking her audience hostage and refusing to let anyone go on with their life.
The third episode, The Mole, the Mob and the Meatball, is hilarious. Sam & Max are sent by the Commissioner to the Bear’s Mafia-Free Playland Casino to find out what happened to an undercover cop.
The fourth episode, Abe Lincoln Must Die, brings Sam & Max to investigate the strange and weird conduct of the President of the United States himself.
The fifth episode, Reality 2.0, brings Sam & Max to investigate an internet video game problem where the players are hostages of the game and can no longer act of their own free will.
Last but not least, in Bright Side of the Moon, the Commissioner sends our two heroes to the moon to save the entire world from hypnotic enslavement. Will it be the end of our two heroes? Will they be able to survive?
I’m seeing Sam & Max as a modern Laurel & Hardy or Abbot & Costello duo. Sam hides a big heart behind his rudeness, and he will do anything to save and help his friend Max but not without kicking his butt several times during the six episodes. Gamers with more experience playing adventure games might think that the game is shorter than some others, but if you take the time to explore every possible dialogue and interact with every object, it will make your gameplay longer, and you will have some more fun.
Are there any action sequences?
As adventure gamers, we’re always asking ourselves that same question. Most of us might consider that driving a car or shooting with a gun might be considered action sequences, but believe me, you don’t need to be as quick as a speeding bullet to accomplish those parts. When I first got into Sam’s car I didn’t know that I was the one who would be driving the car. When I realized it, I thought it would be very difficult, but I was wrong. It was almost as easy as walking in a game, and I can even say it was fun for an adventure gamer like me. The shooting part was easy too. You won’t need to be as precise as a sniper, and it isn’t timed sequenced.
Most of the puzzles are inventory and logic based. They’re not very hard, and I doubt anyone will need a walkthrough to do them. The puzzle that gave me a hard time in the first part was the one where Sam was getting psychoanalyzed, but after listening to everything again I saw that it wouldn’t be as hard as I thought. When Sam is explaining his dream to the psychotherapist, it was very realistic, and the fun part about it was that I was able to interact with his dream and choose where it was going. Funny dialogues were exchanged in that part.
The game has beautiful cartoon characters in a 3D environment. A lot of effort was put into each and every detail with rich colors, wonderful scenery, and characters that seem almost alive. The graphics are too good to be true with a lot of things to take a look at and interact with. If you like cartoonish games you will appreciate this one.
First of all, I love the music and the cutscene in the beginning. It kind of reminded me of those old cartons I watched when I was a kid. Music is well chosen for the game. The jazz fits the ambiance of the game pretty well and may even make you want to listen some more. The music that plays when we’re in the car is the most appropriate of all.
The dialogue is very funny and some things said by Max makes the game even funnier. One thing that bothered me was when you’re talking to another character, you need to click on the character over and over to get a reply. The characters really interact well with each other, and the dialogues are perfect for the game.

After playing the six episodes, I realized that I loved the fact that we’re able to play one episode and go back to the others later if we want. This game is very relaxing, and you can choose to play a couple of episodes in between some much harder games. At the end of each episode we have a small teaser of what’s coming in the next one.
I give the Sam & Max season one a thumbs up. This is a very different and interesting game. I laughed a lot and some parts of the game were more dramatic.
On a final note, to the Telltale team, “Look into my eyes. ( I have my Brady Culture hypnotizing glasses.) You adore me and are devoted to bringing me some more episodes of Sam & Max adventure. You won’t rest until it’s done!” And to the Adventure Company team, please continue to bring us more good and interesting games.

You can buy it as a download through the Telltale Games website, or as a DVD through any major retailer. I highly recommend it -- it's the funniest adventure game to come along in almost a decade.
