Never a Dull Moment

Postby LadyKestrel » Sun Jul 12, 2015 12:32 pm

Under the heading No Good Deed Goes Unpunished, I decided to mow the backyard this morning because we were losing the dogs in the long grass. After I finished and was coming in the sliding door, my first thought was that I had to clean the glass because I managed to spray wet grass all over it. However, when I looked closer, I realized to my dismay that the whole outer pane of the door had cracked because a stone had struck the bottom while I was mowing. It's tempered glass, of course, so I spent the rest of the morning knocking tiny pieces of glass out of the frame onto a plastic bag and sweeping up the escaped shards.

Earlier this year I had been daydreaming that a French door would look nice in that space. Now that I have to replace the door, I’ll have an excuse to try it. :D

A backwards way to get your French doors! I'll bet you will bet you will love them... I had some in my last house and they were SO much better than sliding doors.

Looks like a little bit of Karma working there. Enjoy your new door :flower:

Jude,
We have the Blue Claws, the farm team for the Philadelphia Phillies, here in Ocean County. My group of red hat women go to a game there on senior day and have a blast. We get a free hot dog, chips, and soda, watch the game and the kids' activities between innings, and even play punch-out Bingo. It's a real hoot!

My home contractor came by yesterday and will do some research about either repairing or replacing the door. Even though the current door is an Anderson, there is always some air leakage where the two panels overlap. However, I do have to think about the dogs scratching at it and the room it takes up when it swings in.

Now then, LadyK. Now be honest. Just how many times did you have to position the stone before it hit the doors?

What a good excuse, LadyK! Let's have some pictures when the new doors are up. :)
