I was not quite sure where to put this - On the GGOTD site today, there are offering a free download for Kindle etc.

Not heard of Calibre before, Lucien - thanks for that.

Re: Kindle Transfer Software
I'm not sure I understand why you would need to "transfer" Kindle books to another device. Your Kindle library is always available for you on any device which uses the Kindle reader software. I have the free Kindle reader on my desktop and I also have the free Kindle app on my Surface tablet. I can read my Kindle library on any of those 3 devices.

Re: Kindle Transfer Software
Are they probably hinting at sharing your Kindle books you have bought? Probably illegal?
And didnt Diat say she could not read a book on her Kobo, cos it was a Kindle book you were recommending? Or am I once again getting confused??

Re: Kindle Transfer Software
No, the Kobo uses a different book format, so a Kindle book wouldn't be "readable" on it.
I'm really not sure what the point of this software is... your Kindle books are kept in your library on the Amazon servers and you can access them on any device with the free Kindle reader on it. You don't "transfer" books from one device to another. You just download them from your library. Hubby and I have been reading the same book at the same time because I have it downloaded to both the Kindle and my Surface.
If you are wanting to convert book formats, the the Calibre software mentioned by Lucien is a much better alternative. I checked the GOTD offering and it is strictly for the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Readers - it doesn't appear to work on the Kindle HDs.
I'm very wary of a lot of the the freebies from GOTD - there are some pretty iffy things offered sometimes. All this computer "maintenance" software they offer is pretty much BS.

Re: Kindle Transfer Software
Silly me - I read the review wrongly - I thought you could transfer a Kindle book to a Kobo, and vice versa!

I don't "think" so, but I found the whole concept rather confusing, so I might be wrong.
