Working on a new barn

Postby Winfrey » Wed Mar 02, 2016 3:51 pm

Changing over an equipment shed to a barn... I will post pictures when we get a little further along. Right now it is a muddy mess.

I am so excited to see what the conversion looks like! It will be so nice to have your ponies at home...

Once we get settled we are thinking of getting a little donkey for company.. that way if one of us goes riding the other will have company.

Excellent idea! Horses do like their companion animals. I know someone who had one of her chickens bond with a horse!

Stella, when I bought my little 10 acres and a farmhouse, the barn was my favorite building!

Best of luck with your project, Winfrey! It'll be nice to have your "babies" nearby once you're done. :)

Yes, and it will. We are looking forward to the day we bring them home... right now we are trying our best to get thru the mud and mess of the construction... this time of year was not a good time to start with all the rain.

If the ground is anything like here, Winfrey, it will be a nightmare. I have so much mud on my property, it is like a quagmire. In fact the oil tanker delivering my heating oil was very lucky not to get stuck yesterday.

It is Rosaboobie... not only the big trucks grading and building up the area for the run ins... and digging for the water lines... one of the workers left the water running from the new no freeze water line and a pool of water in front of the barn area made a pool... and THEN the cement truck came.... and he ran out of cement and had to come back.... total mess... and Carol is a total neat freak... so you can imagine....

Oh dear - I can see this is going to stress you and Carol out. How long do they think it will take from start to finish?

Oil tanker must have had a problem getting through my farm gate down by the road, as he has churned my track up immensely - I could hardly get through in my car last night - almost got stuck myself. Elderly Orcadians are telling me that they have never seen the island so wet during their lifetimes.
