Zork & the Cone of Shame
Poor Zork had his knee surgery yesterday. He stayed overnight at the vet's, and I brought him home this morning. Although the surgery went well, he is one unhappy pooch today. He keeps running into things with the plastic cone and just figured out how to drink with it on. I've isolated him in the living room with our dog gate to keep Radar from licking him and wanting to play, which is stressing them both out since they tend to be inseparable most of the time. It's going to be a long 10 days before he gets his stitches out, and then I'll have to walk him outside on his leash for the next month or so to keep him from running around the yard. Ah, the joys of dog parenting!

poor Zork. and poor you. That is hard keeping a dog kenneled. But, the 10 days will be over soon.
Re: Zork & the Cone of Shame
Oh, I remember this so well with our Charlie dog. But the vet told us the daily walks gradually increasing the muscle strength were critical to her healing so perfectly. Good luck!

He's doing okay, although removing the fentanyl patch off his side was a bit of a trial today. It reminded me of the guys who get body waxing - very ouchy! He still hasn't figured out how to get through doorways gracefully with the cone, but so far he hasn't knocked anything over. I did raise up his food dish a bit, just to make it a bit easier for him to eat.

This past photo of Maloo always makes me laugh - to say she was not happy is an under-statement ha ha.

The disected large water container around her middle was to stop the flies laying eggs into her open wound - oh the joys of living in a hot country like Kenya lol!

I wondered what that was! Aren't you glad you are out of that country? I know I would be. Life is much sweeter where you live now.

Absolutely mbday - Had I not moved quickly to sell my house back then, I fear I would be stuck in that country for ever - and never seen my beloved Sanday!

Heh. I recognize that expression on her face. She's saying "Get this rabafratzen thing off me!"

Zork got his stitches out this morning, and his cone is off. He is one very happy canine.

Yes, I still have to keep an eye on him when he's out in the yard, but he can get up and down the two steps between the kitchen and living room easily. I also got a ramp for my Saturn Vue, which helped enormously getting him in and out of the car. It folds in half and has fake grass which gives him a good grip. With my sister on one side and me on the other, he did just fine.

So glad Zork is doing well. I had one of those car ramps for my labrador Cross as she had "something" close to her spinal cord and was not allowed to jump - still have it here just in case.
