Help help. Downloaded Google Chrome/iGoogle to see what it was like. For me it is proving to be more of a headache than anything. Want to remove it but every time I try, I get the message to close all Chrome Windows. They are all closed. Do not know what to do now. Even tried finding the folder and deleting it but can't find it. I have Google earth but nowhere am I finding a folder called Google Chrome or iGoogle. Can advise?

What are you trying to uninstall? iGoogle is not a program - it's simply a webpage which you can customize to only what you want to see in a home page... news, weather, music, videos, recipes.. whatever you want. To change your homepage, simply select a website you want to use and set it to be your homepage in whichever browser you are using. I use an iGoogle webpage which I have customized for myself in IE, Firefox and Chrome. It has nothing to do with Chrome itself...

To uninstall Chrome, which is a program, go to Control Panel and Uninstall Programs. Google Chrome is listed in your programs there and you can then uninstall it if you want.

I will move this to the technical help forum...

Try rebooting and then uninstalling.

It was probably running in the background for some reason - Firefox does that to me every now and then. I just end the process in Task Manager.

I tried everything to no avail. Finally started cleaning routine with Crap Cleaner and it gave me the option to force close Google Chrome. I hopped on it and now have finally gotten rid of it. Not sure what the problem was with Chrome on my PC, but it caused program after program to crash. Was for ever having to close crash windows. Pain in the patootie. Thankfully now it is gone!!!!!

Excellent! Although I have Firefox not close properly once in a while, I've never had Chrome do it. Thank goodness you finally got it - way to go!

Now, if you did like the iGoogle home page which you could customize, you can use that on any browser you want - it had nothing to do with Chrome. Unfortunately, I hear they are going to do away with the iGoogle homepage in a year or so. I will be lost without it. I absolutely loathe pages like MSN that force all kinds of obnoxious content and ads on you.

I haven't heard of Chrome causing crashes, but maybe it didn't install properly.
Glad you managed to get rid of it. Ccleaner to the rescue.

Oh I see the difference now that you explain it draclvr re Google Chrome and iGoogle. However, it seemed it was the iGoogle that was causing crashes I think. I wanted iGoogle mostly for the temp and humidity readings. They are so important here in the desert if you want to save money by using your swamp cooler rather than AC. And heat and humidity make a big difference in using your swamp cooler. An electric bill can easily run $300 here a month so everyone tries to avoid AC if possible. Cal Ed is generally hated here, especially when you have a neighbor living just across the street that is with another electric company and the street happens to be the dividing line. The neighbor's bills are considerably lower! Now go figure that!

So for me iGoogle had a weather map that was great! But soon I began to get message that the weather prog. had crashed. Well could still see it on iGoogle and so I had to forever be closing that notice as it continued to pop up all the time. Never did figure out what it meant. Then another window popped up behind that with a message. Soon other little programs were crashing and more little windows were opening up - other little programs like WOT and AdBlock etc. Got fed up with the whole thing. Went online to find out about it and discovered others were having same problem. Online advised downloading yet another program to handle the situation - when I tried to do so, it seemed to get more involved about what I had to do.

So threw up my hands decided that iGoogle was not for me though I did like it and I never used Chrome so decided to uninstall iGoogle. Well kept getting the messge that Chrome program needed to be closed. It was NOT open! Fiddled with that for some time and then decided to heck with it all - if I find a way, am going to close out both and find other weather programs. I use firefox browser all the time anyway.

When I did my weekly cleaning and started with Crap Cleaner, was delighted to get a message about Chrome being open did I want it closed?! Yeah yeah sure did!!!! And even then CC had to force close it what ever that means. I opted for that and am not looking back. So will never know what I might have done or not done, or it is my PC or whatever the problem was. Just know that some other people had problems with the programs also. So do not feel too stupid.

Just read your message Middletoe and do not know between the two programs, Chrome and iGoogle what the problem was. So goes PC life - carrying on.

Ah, sounds like a simple problem with that weather gadget, not iGoogle. The weather gadget I use hasn't caused any problems in the many years I've used it. You could have deleted the gadget that causing the problems and tried another one - there are dozens of them available. iGoogle itself wasn't the problem.

I also have the Intellicast.com weather gadget on my iGoogle homepage. I use the radar page a lot.

What! You don't need such a device on Sanday!

It's a cooler that uses water and evaporation to lower air temperatures and can only be used in very hot, VERY dry climates such as the desert where BD lives. My son had one in his first house in Denver, Colorado. Here in Missouri, the humidity is so high they cannot be used.

Here in Missouri, it's 103°F/ 39.4°C right now!
