So often "Attack of the Clones" is an apt description for what comes out of Hollywood. So you not only get "A Bug's Life" you also get "Antz".

I see in upcoming movies we have "Bedtime Stories" and "Inkheart" whose story premises seem to be rather similar. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery it's said, so there's a lot of flattery goes on in cinematic circles.

There's a reason for the two bug movies - insects, being mostly constructed of rigid subsections in fairly simple shapes, are easier to do in CGI than most creatures. So there was a period when the technology was ready for a feature-length movie as long as it was about insects!

I was about to say I'd choose which of the two new films to see based on which one didn't star Brendan Fraser. Then I noticed the other one stars Adam Sandler...

Adam Sandler also had a hand in writing "Bedtime Stories" apparently . . . whether he had first read Cornelia Funke's book on which "Inkheart" is based is something to conjecture about.

CGI has certainly come a long way.
