I just started playing the new Mystery Case Files game, Dire Grove: Sacred Grove. So far, so good!
Sorry, Santa! I meant to behave, but there were too many options.

Oh, I didn't know there WAS a new Mystery Case Files game... And a take on Dire Grove, one of the best ones? Gotta get this one!

It's good so far and doesn't seem to have many hidden object scenes. It also has one of those Rube Goldberg door puzzles I love.

Those Rube Goldberg puzzles were one of the reasons I liked the early games so much.

Brilliant - just finished it after two and a half marathon sessions. Just love those Goldberg puzzles and there are plenty in this game. CE is certainly worth it, as you have a bonus chapter plus an alternative ending. Now am going to play Dire Grove again. One forgets how delightful it is and this has reminded me why I kept it to play again sometime. That time has arrived!

Re: What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now, Continued
What a let down! Half way through Dire Grove 1 and am bored silly with all the HO's!!! Not to mention that the guide is on the main menu page and the puzzles come without any information on what to do!! Which DG was I thinking of when I mentioned the Goldberg Puzzles? There is not a sign of one and very few puzzles in general. Why I kept it I don't know, but possibly it was the best at the time. How things have changed in casual gaming.

Re: What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now, Continued
It was the earlier MCF games that had the Rube Goldberg puzzles. Dire Grove didn't have any.

Yes realise that now! Was so sure that was the reason I had kept Dire Grove. Oh well. Still a spooky, realistic game though, especially with the 'real' videos. Certainly a forerunner for things to come.
Re: What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now, Continued
I really liked Dire Grove in spite of the HOGS. The only MCF game I skipped was the last one - everyone said it was awful. Don't even remember the name of it now.

The Ravenhurst games had the complex door puzzles.

I have been playing this game for awhile and could not wait to finish to add my 2 cents worth, very long game (at least for me + taking my time to make it last) and Lots and lots of things to do, granted it has it's share of HOs which normally I do not like but the HOs are varied and most of them are fun to play, added to the fact that there are soooooo much things to do and a lot of puzzles, many locations to visit, graphics were very good, maybe not the Best graphics game out there but much better than a lot of games I 've played lately, an excellent Interactive Map, plus the Magic Powers you get along the way makes this game a Top 20 game choice for the year 2014 on the GB forum. And yes, definitely re-playable more than once.
